Back from the Rocky Mountain Information Security Conference this evening. Overall, especially for a small local conference, it was really good. They had, for the size of the conference, a huge vendor expo and actually had to turn vendors away. Good speakers, great catering, good giveaways. Overall, my only complaint was the drive, but I’m lazy like that Great job with the planning and execution by the Denver ISACA and ISSA folks.

Have a new book project in the works. This should be a relatively quick one and it will hopefully be out in time for DerbyCon. There are a couple more solid ideas in line behind that as well, just a matter of carving out the time.

Seeing some of what I believe to be one of the new Gozi trojan variants cropping up. They don’t look to be all that much smarter or fancier, just tweaked a bit to avoid detection. Secureworks has a solid writeup on the original, for those that haven’t tangled with it previously.

….all those bastards are ripping off from me (to the tune of Yesterday by the Beatles). This seems to be a relatively constant problem with all of my books. I have Google alerts setup on the titles, and of the 3 or 4 that I get a day 2.9 or 3.9 appear to be posts on various pirate sites. I have a scheme in mind for the next go around to defeat so of these buggers, hopefully it will work well in execution.
